As I look back on the last year and a half it seems like it’s gone so quickly. It’s been a real rollercoaster ride and I really can’t imagine who or where I’d be without it.

You may or may not know this but earlier this summer I decided that I would be parting ways with the band in order to move away to go to uni, this wasn’t an easy decision to make but I felt it was necessary for me to move away and experience life somewhere completely different by myself.

The things I’ve got the chance to do over the past year and a half really have made me feel so lucky, especially considering I’ve had 3 of my best friends by my side.

I’d like to take a moment to thank some people that have been instrumental in all this being possible.
Firstly every one of you who has ever come to a show or just stuck around to see us, bought a CD, or just spread us around your friends. Without you this would have all been for nothing.

Secondly Rach Ballet, for putting us on for our first time out in bournemouth, courteously giving us somewhere to stay, generally being awesome and not complaining when scott rubbed his sweaty feet on her pillow. Jenna, Katy and Layla from Rising Stars Promotions for giving us some of the best gigs we’ve played, and painting Katys face to look like jungle animals for our amusement. Rob Dahl for trading mine and Mattocks dignity for a chance to play with one of our favourite bands, and having one of the most glorious beards in all mankind. Not forgetting any other promoters that have ever given us a chance.

Lastly to all the bands who we’ve played with, for making us feel welcome and generally being an inspiration to play alongside, The City Calls, Save Your Breath, Goodbye Stereo, Not Advised, Forever Can Wait, Meet The Public, We Caught The Castle, Fake The Attack, Lost In Colour, The Lion and The Wolf, Kid Keep Dancing and so so so many more, you are some the most awesome guys and girls I’ve ever met.

Not of course forgetting Hope, Sam and Scott, for putting 110% into every single show no matter how small, for making this journey so memorable and having a great laugh along the way.

This has been one hell of a journey and although it’s sad that it’s coming to a close, I’m glad that we’re leaving it while things are on good terms.
And so it’s time to put a chapter of my life behind me, that I can safely say has made me who I am today.

So thanks again to all of you, and the best of luck to Sam, Scott and Hope in all their future endeavours without me.

It’s hard for me to realize what it might be like without having this band in my life. I haven’t been in any serious bands before Bright As Vegas formed, Sam Matlock and I were in school together and we have been playing music together for a good few years now but I’ve never known what it’s like to have that extra free day in a week that would normally be taken up by a practice or a gig. This band has always been in my mind one way or another.

What I’m getting at is this. Bright As Vegas has been one of the most important things in my life so far, the most influential and the most incredible. It’s changed me in a way that i probably won’t be changed again because being in this band with 3 of my best friends ever has not only been fun, but soooo, so rewarding. Like the others have said, seeing people not only show up but enjoy our music and coming along because they genuinely want to be there with us has been one of the best parts of this whole thing. I absolutely love being on stage, I love practicing, i love playing all the songs, I’ve loved all the covers we’ve done (and there are a lot of them), I’ve loved going out with the other guys, I loved going to new places and meeting new people and meeting other bands and having some cheap KFC lunch on some stairs in Bournemouth.

Matlock, Hope and myself with all be in Southampton for University starting from September and Sam Warr is moving to Leeds for his Uni course and you will no doubt see us around doing new things. Like the others have said, the band splitting up hasn’t affected us as friends, we all sort of knew it was coming but we’re all still as close as we always have been, if not, closer.

Also, for those of you who have come to any shows in the past few months, you will hopefully be familiar with some of the more recent songs, which are now all recorded and going through the mixing process! There will be more info on those soon but you’ll be able to hear most, if not, all of them at our last ever show at what is certainly my favourite venue, the Southampton Joiners, on the 2nd of September. We will have CDs with us there and we hope to see lots of you there too.

On a final note, i have to thank the most important people in this whole almost-3-year journey.

Sam, Sam, Hope. I am a large guy, but I haven’t got the ballz. So while i can, I’m going to say it here. I love you guys so much, you’re my best friends and without you and this band I would be a very different person.

Thank you to every who has come to a show, given us a lift anywhere, bought any CDs from us, helped us get gigs, became our friends, helped us get fans and ultimately make this whole thing one of the best things that has literally ever happened to me.

I’m not really sure what to write in this. I’m gonna try and keep this short, this band has been such a huge part of my life, it’s pretty hard to imagine what it would have been like without it. It sucks that things have to end but it’s gotten to that point where it just the right thing to do.

Every venue that’s had us, every promoter that’s given us a chance, every person who’s bought a CD from us, every kid who’s come up to me just to chat while I’ve been stuck doing merch while the guys do their thing, every band we’ve played with, and especially the 3 guys that have put up with my mood swings and short temper, thank you. These last 3 years, last year in particular, have been the best times of my life.

I’d like to say I’ll be involved in a new project soon but honestly, I don’t know how likely that is. I’ll probably be focussing more on my production and my part time job for a little while, but if I start anything new up it’ll be up on BAV’s page.

Good luck to Sam, Sam and Scott in the future with whatever they do, I know we’re gonna keep in touch for at least a couple more years, and I know those guys have got a lot more to give.

So much for keeping it short haha.

This is a difficult thing to write because to me it feels like the end of a massive part of my life, as opposed to just another band biting the dust.

Although we didn’t play nearly as many gigs as i’d have liked to in the last two years i can happily say with my hand on my heart that every night we’ve hit the stage has been one of the best feelings in the world and the friends i’ve made has made all this time priceless. Sad to say we don’t always work well together these days, and it’s more important to me that we work as friends than a band, it’s all a part of growing up and theres definitely no bad feelings. Biggest thanks have to go to Jade and Kim for showing your faces and making me feel like we actually had a shot. Chris, Toby and Alex just for being there. Benji, Stevie and Richard Heaven for the awesome photos - theres a huge list of people with the youtube video.

An even bigger thanks to anyone who sang along at a show, posted lyrics on their facebook, asked us to sign something or wanted a picture. If you’re a fan of a small band please buy their music instead of ripping it off youtube or torrent or something, even if we sold hundreds of copies we’d still be making a loss but the confidence boost from seeing a sale is invaluable to broke musicians.

So thats me! Come down to our last show September 2nd at Southampton joiners, ask any of us for tickets or theres a link to them on our facebook. I’m sure me and Scott will be back kicking ass with a new project soon enough.
